In this illustration, Mei-Lien celebrates by wearing red clothes during the Lantern Festival in China in a time of family reunion. It is the Chinese New Year, the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar beginning on January 31, 2014 for the Chinese year of 4712. The Year of the Wooden Horse associated with strength and flexibility as well as generosity. The wood element seeks ways to grow and expand heralding springtime. But also, signifies long term goals and a dedication to a plan or purpose.
